Exxon Mobil’s second quarter earnings irk Dem lawmakers
WASHINGTON – House Members Maurice Hinchey and Kirsten Gillibrand, who each represent portions of the Hudson Valley, Thursday lashed out at Exxon Mobil for its $11.68 billion second quarter profit.
Hinchey said Exxon Mobil, Shell and the rest of Big Oil have no shame.
“All they are interested in is their own profits,” he said. “We’re dealing with this at a time when the budgets of households across the country are being stretched out to the limit and that stretching out is largely due to these skyrocketing gas prices. The big oil companies just continue to break records for their profits.”
Gillibrand, meanwhile, said the profit figures are “outrageous and a result of our country’s failed energy policies that have been put in place by this Administration.”
